1. What is Vietnamese Dipping Sauce?

The dipping sauce is also fish sauce fermented from fish, then diluted with filtered water, and added with many other ingredients to create more flavors for the fish sauce, such as garlic, chili, and lemon.

3. Vietnamese Dipping Sauce Recipe


  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons sugar & 2 chili peppers
  • 50 ml fish sauce
  • 50 ml of filtered water
  • 4 cloves of garlic


Step 1: Cut a lemon in half and squeeze out the juice. Next, mince 4 garlic cloves and 2 chili peppers.

You must choose fresh garlic and chili; if you see any signs of damage, you must remove it immediately to ensure that the fish sauce is delicious, not damaged, and preserved for a long time.

Step 2: Put 50 ml of filtered water in a bowl, add 2 tablespoons of sugar, lemon juice, fish sauce, garlic, minced chili, and stir until the sugar dissolves.

So with a few simple steps, you have a cup of sweet and sour fish sauce with a sweet and sour taste, attractive with the spicy flavor of chili pepper.

To store the Vietnamese dipping sauce for a long time but still delicious when eating, after making it. You should pour them into a glass bottle and close the lid, then put them in the refrigerator. This way, you will keep the dipping sauce for about 1 month.

You can also use Vietnamese dipping sauce to serve with Vietnamese dishes such as broken rice, grilled pork vermicelli, fresh spring rolls, or Banh Cuon.
