Vietnamese Sticky Rice Recipe

Vietnamese sticky rice is a Vietnamese street food eaten by many people in the morning. If you want to use the rice cooker for cooking delicious sticky rice, please refer to our instructions below

1. How to cook Vietnamese Sticky Rice in a Rice Cooker


  • 2 cups of Sticky rice/Glutinous rice
  • ½ teaspoon Salt.
  • Chicken fat.
  • Clean water.


If you don’t soak the sticky rice first.

First, you have to cook the boiling water. Next, wash the rice clean, add a little salt, pour boiling water over the sticky rice, put it in the rice cooker and start cooking.

When the rice cooker turns on the heating step, the water has dried up; use your chopsticks to lightly brush the rice so that the top and bottom sides of the sticky rice are stirred evenly.

To add about 5-7 minutes more, depending on how much rice is more or less, unplug the power, open the pot’s lid to let the heat evaporate, and the water on the cover does not drip onto the rice. The rice grains are soft and delicious; enjoy better when the sticky rice is still hot.

If you pre-soaked sticky rice

Soak the rice for about 3 to 4 hours. To prevent the rice from breaking, you should wash it before soaking it.

Before cooking, you should rinse sticky rice with water, leave it for about 15 minutes to drain.

Then mix green beans or gac depending on the sticky rice you cook, add a little salt to make the sticky rice richer.

Finally, you put everything in the rice cooker, pour in the water, and start cooking.

2. How to cook Vietnamese Sticky Rice With Black Beans in a Rice Cooker


  • 400g sticky rice.
  • 120g black beans.
  • 1 teaspoon white salt.
  • 30g peanuts.
  • ½ tbsp black sesame.


Step 1: Roasted peanuts, pounded and mixed with roasted sesame and salt to make sesame salt.

Step 2: Clean the black beans, then put them in the rice cooker with twice as much water as the beans, turn on the rice cooker button and boil for about 5 minutes, then pour the water away. Then add twice the amount of water to the beans and a little white salt and cook for about 15 minutes until the beans are tender.

Step 3: Add sticky rice into the rice cooker, add water to cover the surface, cook until the sticky rice is cooked, stir the sticky rice, leave it for about 3 to 5 minutes, then take it out on a plate to enjoy.
