A flexible combination of the trend of “tourism 4.0” (with the role of connecting the value of digital technology) and “tourism 0.4” (travel back to nature) will play a leading role in tourism—the post-Covid-19 calendar.
That is the forecast of tourism trends in the coming period of the Da Nang tourism industry. The information was given at a meeting between leaders of Da Nang city and the city’s Department of Tourism and related departments on February 16.
At the meeting, Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of Danang Department of Tourism, said: In 2022, the city’s tourism industry will continue to promote industry restructuring; review and effectively implement critical plans and projects to promote tourism development in line with the city’s general planning adjustments.
Da Nang tourism industry forecasts tourism trends in the coming period; the types suitable for the post-Covid-19 period will be resort tourism, recovery and health care; Tourism associated with traditional culture, tourism returning to nature, fresh and quiet environment (ecotourism of forests, sea, agriculture, rural areas); Travel through the virtual world; Travel to find yourself (experience tourism).
In the period from 2021-to 2025 and 2022, the city’s tourism industry strives to increase the number of visitors to accommodation establishments by 20-22%/year, of which international visitors increase by 40-41%/year. Revenue from accommodation and travel services increased by 20 to 22% per year.
Notably, in 2022, implementing the theme “Year of safe and flexible adaptation, effective disease control and socio-economic recovery and development,” the Da Nang tourism industry strives for the total number of tourists staying in the city. Expected to reach 3.5 million visitors, three times higher than in 2021 (1.3 times compared to 2020); international visitors are estimated at 180,000 arrivals, up 1.6 times, and domestic tourists are estimated at 3.32 million arrivals, up three times.
Revenue from accommodation and travel is estimated at over VND 6.7 trillion, an increase of 2.6 times compared to the estimate made in 2021 (reaching 1.7 times compared to 2020), “Director of Da Nang Department of Tourism said.

To restore tourism activities, the Da Nang tourism industry follows the motto “proactive - adaptive - flexible” and supports tourism businesses and workers such as a Pilot project to welcome and serve guests international travel; orientation of organization of tourism business activities in the new situation (the context of both epidemic prevention and business exploitation).
At the same time, focus on organizing several unique festivals, events, and tourism stimulus programs to attract tourists, such as planning to organize the Da Nang Wonderful Festival coordinating with the Department of Culture and Sports to organize the ceremony. Light festival, tourism stimulus programs, link activities of Quang Nam tourism year program.
In addition, Da Nang tourism industry will carry out some pilot activities and prepare new tourism products to attract visitors, such as urban tourism products associated with the night economy; sea tourism products, high-class resorts; waterway tourism products; tourism products, entertainment, shopping, conferences and seminars (MICE).
Along with that are promotional activities, promoting destinations, linking domestic and foreign tourism cooperation to develop tourism, applying information technology, digital transformation in state management, and preparing human tourism resources.
Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang emphasized: Tourism is the entire economic sector of the city; this is a general financial sector that requires the coordination of many industries to be new.
The city urgently needs to revive the tourism industry to deal with a massive demand for life for people who have been facing many difficulties in the past two years due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
The Secretary of Da Nang suggested that the city’s tourism industry needs to have regulations to coordinate with other sectors to bind responsibilities to effectively implement the tourism recovery, especially in the current period. Epidemic prevention and control is the top task to reopen tourism activities.
At the same time, industries need to create favorable conditions in terms of infrastructure and human resources for tourism, ensure security and order, traffic safety, and the environment to attract tourists back.
Mr. Nguyen Van Quang hopes that with the comments, suggestions of units, determination of the leaders of Da Nang city, the support of industries businesses, the city’s tourism industry will soon recover strong.
